Internal Medicine
The resident training ground in internal medicine is Tacoma General
Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center with 391 beds, 11 operating rooms
(including open heart surgery and neurosurgery), and a 22 bed Adult
ICU/CCU.
TFM prides itself in strong inpatient training. The
medicine experience at TFM employs a unique combination of faculty from
both hospitalist/internist and family medicine disciplines. Residents
have extensive exposure to, and primary management responsibility for,
a wide variety of pathologies in various levels of acuity ranging from
ICU patients with multi-system organ failure to floor patients.
Residents on call are a vital resource for the stabilization of
cross-cover patients and managing codes in the hospital. |
