Residents will enjoy quick access to backpacking, hiking, kayaking (river and sea), river rafting, snowshoeing, mountain climbing, mountain-biking, snow camping, downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, scuba diving, and whatever stimulates your imagination.

Point Defiance Park

Natural forests, saltwater beaches and spectacular views motivated settlers to preserve the Point Defiance area in 1888.  This 696-acre park is among the 20 largest urban parks in the United States and is an easily accessible destination for a weary resident to get recharged.

Cycle, run or in-line skate the park’s scenic Five-Mile Drive.  Stroll through the rose and dahlia gardens, hike or run over 7 miles of trails, or watch the ferry make its journey to and from Vashon Island.  The park also has a 29-acre zoo and aquarium large enough to offer an awesome array of animals, yet small enough to let you get really close to them.
