In order to fulfill a mission of service to rural and underserved populations, TFM residents have training in an extensive range of hospital and office-based procedures. All faculty members have strong independent interests and experiences in procedural skills. They provide residents with quality in-depth teaching and insights necessary to gain proficiency in common family practice procedures.
Procedural training for residents includes (and certainly is not limited to) central line placement and vent management, casting and orthopedic care, surgical first-assisting, EKG interpretation and treadmill testing, PFT’s, lump and bump surgical procedures, colposcopy, cryotherapy, LEEP, OB ultrasound, NST/AFI testing, flexible sigmoidoscopy with exposure to colonoscopy, cesarean sections, vasectomies, and circumcisions.
